Yes! If you get gauge with a needle one size smaller, then I recommend adjusting your ribbing needle accordingly (one size smaller than the ribbing needle the pattern recommends). You can also adjust the other direction - if you end up using a needle one size larger for the body of your sweater, then you can also go up a needle size for the ribbing. This is just a general guideline and not a hard rule, so feel free to do what works best for your project.
